Leisure vs New Santos
In their first competitive game in over a month, New Santos faced Leisure at the Grove looking to maintain their winning streak.
The rust from the lack of games was obvious early on with both sides playing sloppy football. Leisure threatened on the counter attack but failed to create any real chances. Santos came close to opening the scoring on a few occasions, coming closest when Paddy O'Reillys effort smashed off the bar. On 35 minutes, Sean Murphys pinpoint pass found Martin Magee who met the ball on the volley only to see the bar deny Santos again.

After a half-time teamtalk, Santos came out with an improved attitude which started to show on the pitch. Leisure barely troubled the Santos goal. O'Reilly came close again with a low effort which went inches past the far post. It took a moment of magic on the hour mark for Santos to break the deadlock. Sean Murphys free kick was nodded into the path of David Dougan by McGreevy and Dougan turned majestically and slotted the ball into the corner expertly to give Santos the lead. (hahaha).
Santos pushed on after taking the lead and doubled their lead when debutant Sean Murphys' 25 yard effort sailed into the top corner. Leisure responded and applied a bit of pressure late on but failed to capitilise on a succession of corners and Santos held on for the victory.
