Santos faced first division outfit Colin Bhoys in the second round of the Nelson Cup with a place in the quarter finals up for grabs.
It was a cagey start for Santos as Colin Bhoys looked to be the more determined of the two teams early on. Colin Bhoys came closest to opening the scoring first with a shot from 25 yards. Throughout the half Colin Bhoys played the better football but never really came close to taking the lead while Santos too often looked for the hurried ball to the strikers leaving the Bhoys defence able to clear regularly. Santos' best effort of the half was an excellent volley by Simon Magee which was met with an excellent save from the keeper.
Both sides had penalty shouts denied correctly by the referee as a poor first half came to a close.

A re-invigorated Santos came out in the second half and the midfield trio of Ferguson, Seaward and Thompson began to dominate possession in the center of the pitch while Simon Magee was a constant threat down the left. The pressure paid of for Santos when Johnny Halliday'sflicked header found the corner to give Santos the lead. On the hour Santos went two up as Paddy O'Reilly was fouled in the area allowing Ciaran Caldwell to dispatch the penalty despite being about a foot away from the keeper as the penalty was hit.
At 2-0 down, Colin Bhoys kept fighting and came close twice from corners with JP Byrne getting down to save well from a header and Simon Magee cleared another header off the line. It was their last chances of the game as they looked to have tired as Santos' dominance grew. Gareth Cullen came close with a trademark free kick before having a 25-yard effort tipped onto the bar by the keeper.
Santos got their third as Paddy O'Reilly pounced on a loose ball in the box before substitute Matt McCafferty scored the fourth with this first touch, miscontr... I mean expertly toe poking Cullens through ball first time past the keeper.
It was a valiant effort by Colin Bhoys but an excellent second half performance was enough to send them through to the quarter finals of the Nelson Cup,
