Glanville Star vs New Santos II
New Santos II were away to Glanville Star hoping to capitalise on a chance to win a much needed 3 points. The match started brightly for Santos, who settled into the game the better of the 2 teams and 20 minutes into the game a brilliant half volley from defender Chris Monan gave Santos the opener, however within 5 minutes Glanville were level. A weak attacking cross from the left spun through goalkeeper Gary Ashwood's hands in what should have been a routine save and made the score 1-1.
However this did not sway the momentum of the game and 10 minutes later Santos went back infront with a goal from captain Chris Jones who buried it after a goalmouth scramble from a Santos corner.

The half time score seemed to annoy the Glanville players who could be heard arguing at eachother as to who was at fault, but it was them who came out the hungrier of the 2 sides. There was continuous pressure from the home side with them looking for the equalizer, however it was Santos who broke through for the first chance of the 2nd half with some neat work from the forward players. Glanville pushed forward again with a glancing header being saved by Gary Ashwood, looking to make amends for his earlier mistake. Soon after the Glanville forward struck a 20 yard drive which, again was well stopped by the Santos keeper to keep the score 2-1 to the away side.
The match switched from end to end, but it was Glanville who were finishing the stronger, desparately hunting for that illusive equalizer. Again the Glanville attacker broke through with what appeared to be a one on one with the keeper, however an amazing last gasp tackle from defender Chris Monan saved the Santos defence.
The referee, who had been very fair to both teams throughout the game seemed to add on at least 10 minutes of injury time but it was Santos how came out on top and managed to hold on to a win which sees them move up to 12th in the league.
