New Santos vs Glanville Rec

Following a tough away defeat to CSP the week previous, Santos faced old rivals Glanville Rec in their first home game of the season.
New Santos started like a house on fire and were 1-0 up within the first minute as Paddy O'Reilly out-paced the defence latching on to Ferguson's pass and cooly slotted home to give Santos the early lead. It was 2 just a few minutes later as Dougan's through ball was sent Harrigan through one-on-one and he converted to give Santos a dream start.
A squanderd
lead in the same fixture the previous season was still in the minds of the Santos team determined not to let history repeat itself. Glanville had other ideas, and got a goal back after 15 minutes with a neat finish into the far corner. Unlike last season, the heads didn't drop and O'Reilly had an effort hit the bar shortly before Ferguson set him up to produce another fine finsh to make it 3-1.
A fine move down the left finished with Harrigan converting Copelands cross to complete his doubled. Any remaining nerves were further settled when Joe Magee finished from Seawards well worked corner to give Santos a four goal lead going into the second half.

Surely disappointed with their first half effort, Glanville started the second half a more determined side and had a succession of corners but the Santos defence stood firm. Though Santos' attacking tempo had slowed down, fine shifts from Seaward and Barr in center midfield prevented Glanville from launching any meaningful attacks.
With 15 minutes remaining, Glanville were reduced to 10 men as their central midfielder picked up his second booking of the game. Fresh impoteus was provided from substitutes McGreevy and Simon Magee as Santos started to attack with more fluency again. After a second petulant second booking for a Glanvile player, Stevie Copeland rattled the cross bar from 25 yards.
The game finished with the half-time scoreline in tact, but it was a fine three points for Santos who completed their largest victory in the Premier Division.
