St Lukes II vs New Santos II

On a typically miserable wet November afternoon, this bottom of the table clash started off poorly for New Santos after St lukes scored early in the game from a well worked move  it didn’t get much better midway through the first half with a blatantly biased refereeing decision which was clearly offside, however taking nothing away from the St Lukes striker who finished well with a one on one with the keeper.
Santos never really got into their stride with few decisions going our way. There was a few good passing sequences from Santos, however not really resulting in much by way of chances on goal

Half time: St Lukes II 2-0 New Santos II

The 2nd half started slowly again and within 5 minutes of the restart Santos were 3 down. Heads began to drop, and things were made even worse 10 minutes later when a through ball from St Lukes was blatantly handled by New Santos defender Brian Caldwell. The ref deemed Brian to be the last defender and was subsequently sent off for his actions.

Things weren't looking too good for Santos. Half way through the 2nd half Santos made a change with injured striker Gary Ashwood limping off and replaced by 16 year old Brendy who made an instant impact. Brendan collected a pass on left, eased passed 2 St Lukes defenders before calmly lobbing the keeper to make it 3-1.
This goal lifted Santos heads and we began to finally play some football. Sean Carson replaced Marty Cunningham at right back and Jamesy Martin, making a comeback after 2 months out, replaced a tired Brendy Henderson in midfield.

Another well worked goal from St lukes made the score line 4-1 with 15mins to go, but the last quarter of the game belonged to Santos who, despite being down to 10 men, finished the stronger of the 2 sides.
A consolation goal 5 mins from time from Santos striker Gareth Downey made the score 4-2. the final score line did not do Santos justice, with a lot of bad refereeing decisions going St Lukes way.
