    New Santos vs Malachian Shamrocks

Still unbeaten in the league, New Santos faced another in form team in Malachian Shamrocks at Strangford Avenue looking to keep their record in tact.

On a wet and windy day it proved difficult for both sides to play attractive football early on. Niether side produced anything of note in the first half hour with Malachians reduced to shooting from long range and Santos still trying to get into their rhythm.

Santos then had an effort cleared off the line and the Malachians striker headed over from 10 yards out as the game started to come to life. Shortly before half time Martin Magee crossed from the right and Paddy O'Reillys flick on fell to Paul Barr who finished excellently to give Santos a 1-0 lead going into the break.

The second half began with Malachians on top but failing to breach the goal defence with Conor Chambers clearing off the line and a Mals shot hit the crossbar. Around 70 minutes in, Malachians were awarded a shocking penalty after their striker fell easily from a shoulder charge from David Dougan. The striker picked himself to take up Malachians gift back into the match.

Just a couple of minutes,a fumble by JP Byrne was converted by the Shamrocks' striker and the game had turned on its head and Santos' unbeaten record looked to be ending.

Santos pushed forward in search of an equaliser and it took until the 85th minute for it to come. Martin Magee crossed perfectly for McGreevy to leap above the defender and head in. In the final minute a Martin Magee effort deflected in off a Mals defender to give Santos the three points.

It was far from Santos' best performance of the season but they still came out with the 3 points to keep the pressure on the top two of Cumann Spoirt an Phobail and Sport and Leisure.
